let's talk about you.

I’ve always been a little sentimental about ordinary things.

I was the youngest of three girls, which meant a lot of my childhood was spent watching—my sisters, my family, whatever was happening just beyond me. Somewhere along the way I started recording it. First on home videos, then on a camera I borrowed from my sister in high school and, more or less, never put down.

I still watch those old videos. Nothing remarkable happens in most of them, which is exactly why I love them. A familiar voice. The way our house looked. Someone laughing from another room. Things no one thought to remember.

That’s probably why I photograph weddings the way I do. I’m looking for the beautiful things, of course—but mostly for the things that will mean more later.
